CIC, the Cambridge Innovation Center, is the world’s largest community of startups, innovators and entrepreneurs. Building on the success of creating and strengthening international innovation ecosystems in the United States, CIC Rotterdam established a 13.000m2 innovation centre at the iconic Groot Handelsgebouw in Rotterdam.
Avenue Concordia was assigned to take care of public relations and brand activation during 2015 when the company established in Rotterdam. Furthermore, we organised the launch events of the new office spaces in 2016 and 2018.

CIC Rotterdam, designed by Kraaijvanger Architects with artist designed spaces by Arttenders, earned great success and press attention over the past few years. The successful firm with a community of nearly 150 startups, established companies and investors continues to grow and has raised more than 3 million euros and created 100 jobs. As a result, CIC expanded its innovation center in the Groot Handelsgebouw with 4,000 m2 of workplaces in 2018. Avenue Concordia was responsible for PR and a festive launch event.

The launch of CIC Rotterdam was the Cambridge Innovation Center's first expansion to Europe. CIC Rotterdam aims to be a beacon for successful Dutch startups, providing a premium platform for these companies to develop into world players. Avenue Concordia created a communication strategy and editorial content during the launch of CIC Rotterdam. Furthermore, we created the event concept and took care of the production for the official opening party of CIC and Venture Café Rotterdam in the Groot Handelsgebouw in 2016. Highlights of the programme were a virtual reality room, 3D printing, musical performances, ethical hacking demonstrations, and countless workshops, plus last but not least, pole dancing robots. Furthermore, we hosted a CIC Exit Game, demonstrations by IBM Watson, Live Elevator Pitches and the CIC World Expo, with more than 100 startups and innovation partners. Most notably, the welcome remarks came by His Royal Highness Prince Constantijn Special Envoy, StartupDelta, Mayor Aboutaleb and Alderman Struijvenberg.
