CLUB GEM
ART & EVENT SPACE

Club Gem was an independent pop-up art and event space with bar, terrace, and exhibition initiated by Avenue Concordia in 2016. The pop-up art and event spaces brought together exhibitions with affordable art and design from leading artists, and mixed disciplines such as art, music food and film. Club Gem came to life in multiple empty buildings across the Rotterdam city centre and attracted more than 10,000 visitors within the first month.

2016 - 2018
Concept, initiative, production, exhibition, place making, art direction and PR.

During the summer of 2016 we took over the former Kunstuitleen building at the Nieuwe Binnenweg in Rotterdam and created an exciting place to hang out and leave inspired, as well as a space where external ideas and initiatives could come to life.

In 2017 Club Gem organized the opening event of De Geheime Wintertuin in the formerly empty space in Het Industriegebouw that later turned into restaurant By Jarmusch. Club Gem hosted an exhibition, live art performances and live music acts by artists like Rotganzen, Nas Bami and Sevdaliza.
Furthermore, Club Gem created the ‘Art Truck’ and parked its truck in front of cafes and restaurants with a truck full of art.

In 2018 we occupied a 400m2 empty office building at the Glashaven, owned by real estate developer Amvest. We collaborated with Brand beer and organized weekly drinks with live music, art exhibition, entertainment and a pop-up pizzeria at the location.

Club Gem was made possible with support of and in collaboration with: Soba Studio, Stichting De Verre Bergen, Stichting de Nieuwe Lichting, Amvest, Rotterdam Festivals, Kunstuitleen Rotterdam, Heineken, Rotown and Art Tube.
